How does SafeDisc work
SafeDisc works by encrypting your application and forcing it to look
for a unique digital signature on the CD before launching. If the signature
exists, the program runs normally. If the digital signature is missing
(as on a copied CD), the program terminates.
SafeDisc was designed to protect
applications, but special techniques now allow the protection of some
data files as well. Currently the list of data files affording themselves
to protection include:
Windows® Media Player
files
Word documents
Excel spreadsheets
PowerPoint presentations
Portable Document Format
(PDF) files
